Injury Prevention, Nutrition, and FREE Massage!
With the racing season kicking off over the last two weekends (Kemah and Galveston) and with Ironman Texas less than 6 weeks away our training has begun significantly ramp up!
Unfortunately this increased training volume sometimes leads to injury.  Learn how to prevent this from happening to you from the month’s featured speaker:
Dr. Jay Muscat, an orthopedic surgeon and sports physician for the Humble/Kingwood based Fondren Orthopedic Group, LLP.

Dr. Muscat will lecture on how triathletes can take preventative measures to decrease the chance of sports related injuries and answer any questions you may have on the subject.

And then sticking with the theme of the evening, Leesa Shanahan from Kingwood Nutrition will be on hand to speak about Personal Wellness and proper nutrition for triathletes.

AND, Alton from The Healing Experience will be on hand with an associate offering FREE chair massages!!!

This is one night you do not want to miss!

It was a great weekend of racing in Galveston.  Many of our club members raced the Lonestar Sprint and the Ironman 70.3.  Congratulations to all of you who competed!  It was hot and windy (lots of sunburns), but it was a great first race of the season.  A special congrats to Annie Irvin who completed her first ever outdoor triathlon… and rocked it!  Any other club members have their first race this weekend?

We would love to hear your race report and upcoming plans, so take a few minutes and leave us a comment on this post about your race and/or your upcoming plans for racing.

Join us this Saturday for our second duathlon at Duessen Park.  We will begin the event promptly at 8:15am, so come early to hang out, set up your transition area, etc.  Like always, this event will be a 2 mile run / 12 mile bike / 2 mile run.  All abilities are welcome.  This is a very relaxed event.  We just want to offer a place everyone to get into the race mentality while having fun with friend.  We will be meeting at Pavilion 11.

After the duathlon we are planning on hanging out for lunch at the park, so bring the family along with some food and drinks.  It is looking like it is going to be a great day to be outside!
